'According to research published by Clean Green Cars, MINI is now the UKâ€'s cleanest car manufacturer, with an average CO2 emissions across the range of 137.2 g/km, down from 147.3 g/km of CO2 in 2007.
Jay Nagley, Publisher of Clean Green Cars said of the MINIs strong showing this year:
The adoption of stop-start technology across the whole range has made a huge difference to Miniâ€'s performance and sets the standard for the whole industry. In fact, Miniâ€'s average CO2 figure in Quarter 4 was down to 131.2 g/km of CO2, which suggests it will be the first manufacturer to get below the EUâ€'s target figure of 130 g/km of CO2.
MINI should hope for further improved results for 2009 with the introduction of the new Convertible range, which will include many of the second generation MINIs energy saving and emissions reducing technologies.'
