1. Hi all this has probably been asked before so many apologies for dragging this up but my problem is this, the original key fob unlock button split and broke off the micro switch underneath, I had a replacement key/fob off eBay and a replacement board so I've changed the blade and transponder and despite trying to pair the fob/board to the car according to a Google search by unlocking the car manually getting inside car making sure all the doors are closed inserting ign key then turn on to pos 1 on the ignition and off within 5 secs remove the ign key then holding unlock button down on the fob press lock 3 times within 20 secs so far so good but it will not complete the lock/unlock test to indicate that the fob is paired which should be automatically locking and unlocking the doors then replace the Ign key turn to position 1 to complete the pairing .. I have also tried the other option I found by using the lock unlock switch on the dash … with the switch on the dash unlock 4 times place key in ing switch turn to pos 1 and off again and remove the key then alternately press lock/unlock several times again to no avail so the question is and despite hours searching the interweb so the questions are >> 1: does my 2001 Bini Cooper need to go to a dealer to get this resolved . 2: is there another method. 3: am I doing something wrong. 4: does these methods only apply to later models after 2001 …. cheers guys I hope someone can offer some advice
