  1. Hi everyone!

I.m a new guy from sweden with a couple of mk1 minis. The main problem right now is what colour to shoose for my 1071 car. I´ve allready have one almond green/OEW 1275 S-65, One OEW/Black 970 S-64 and one Tartan Red/Black Cooper 998 -64.

At the Heritage paper the 1071 S was delivered here to Sweden in -64 in Tartan Red/ Black roof but is now painted in Castrol Racing colours from early 70,s, I dont want that! I like the grey colours but need some help of you guys to shoose! Maybe you have some pictures on different cars in different colours of grey, like Tweed grey, Dove grey or smoke grey!

Pleace help me out/ Regards Tobias

Attached a picture how it looks right now!

I too think that Tweed Grey/White is rather underated and looks very cool:cool:. Surf Blue is my favorite though, of that period – or what about Fiesta Yellow?

    :P:D,

Hi, I would prefer the Tweed Grey with OEW roof, as my 64 970s scheme, it looks so right both exterior and interior with dove grey seats and trims, though my next Cooper respray will be Almond green/OEW, the other favorite color of the 60's Mini!

You are a very luck guy to own so many MK1 Minis!!

  8. Do you mean BMC colours or colours offered by BMC for the Mini range?
I can't think of any of the (many) darker greys which were actually offered on the Mk1 Mini in period although Yukon Grey was used on the Wolseley Hornet/Riley Elf.

I'm looking for a dark grey to go with almond green.”

There's some good scans of some old BMC colour charts here.

  10. Thanks.

Carlton grey looks promising..Yukon and Grampian would be nice as well at a guess.. Now I just need the damn shall rolling, so I could get it to the painters 😉

  11. I don't have any pictures of Minis in any of those colours and although I do have colour chits/samples I have no idea how to 'scan' etc:(

What I do have is a picture of my scruffy but much loved Morris Traveller which is a rather faded image of 'Yukon Grey GR7' Actually, the front wings, which were replaced more recently, probably give a slightly better idea of what the colour should look like…. It might be a little bit of a help.

Used, abused, but most of all, loved.:)
