  1. The provious owner of my car has just given me a few photos of the car competing in some sort of motorsport event in the late 70's or early 80's… I doubt they are of a huge interest to anyone else. But if anyone recognises the car, or the location, I'd be interested to hear from you:)

The car looks very different (and a little more standard!) now, but great to see itas it was:)

I'm going to scan them in again at a higher resolution to see if I can read the date on the tax disc.

Great to have a set of photos like that – the second owner of my Mk 2 'S' competed in university motor club events in the car but no photos unfortunately.

The straight cut gear set is due to be delivered on Monday, and I should get the fully built engine and box back at the end of the week :D:D

I've been busy fitting adjustable Negative camber lower arms, adjustable tie bars and newdampers all round today. Also replaced the steering arms for Mk2 ones, as I recently noticed its got a Mk2 rack!

Burlen fuel systems have finally sent the twin HS4s so should get those early next week too.

With a bit of luck the car should be running and have an MOT in the next few weeks!:dude::dude::dude::dude:

:DStraight cut drops as well:DI love the noise they make, but the novelty will probably have worn off by the time I get to Monte!:)

I will indeed post some pics up when the engine arrives….!:P

Great photos Norton, love a bit of history.

Thats what I like to hear. 3 months till the Monte event and your engine is still in bits, Don't worry though run it for for a 1000 miles change the oil and then give it some stick just like Kieron Fry did toADL 800Bin 2006.

Boy did that car go. MED did a bloody good job on his motor and despite Kieron trying to break it he never managed to do so and I am sure your lump will be the same.

Fantastic that you have some old photos of your car. I know photos of my car exist back in the 60's but the owner must have and emotional attachment to them; some day I am sure they will turn up.

    3 months….?:)loads of time!!:D

I must admit I am beginning to panic now… So is Kieron! His latest car is still a long way from being finished! Both cars are sat next to each other on the Isle of Wight at the moment…. I'm sure we'll get there in the end with a few late night spannering sessions.

You're right. Kierons ADL800Bis bloody quick… I think MED can take 25% of the credit for this – it is a bloody good engine…. however the rest of its velocity can be attributed to the missing part of Kierons brain and lack of mechanical sympathy! 😀

I've had to throw a lot of money at mine to make sure it produces more power than his!:D:D

    Norton,

Few glasses of wine in me but boy I thought your last scribe was hilarious. Yes he did try to break it, yes he has a missing link, and yes there was not a lot of mechanical sympathy. But hey ho they were built to take stick.

Not so sure about spending loads of money to keep up with him though, he said you had a screw loose, you must have seen him in action. In the words of Dave Greaves, and he is bloody mad, Kieron is seriously crazy.

Boy am I looking forard to those Cols.

    See you at Colmar!!!!!!!!

    Norton,

By the way Dave Greaves will be in the party and he is running a 999 S. His words 'no problem keeping up with allthese 1275's' so get on the with the porting of that head.

:DMy MED bill is going to be about £5k:shock::shock:… so hopfully Its going to produce power by the bucket load! 😯

Unfortunately, having spent so much, I'm going to be rather reluctant to blow it up! I may have to resort to Wacky races style tactics to stay out in front…..

Mind you… its nota race (will be my words if I can't keep up!:D)

    Norton,

No excuses accepted if you can't keep up you will be forced to wear the'sheep shaggerstag'. Will explain when we get to Colmar…………

As long asyour lump remains intact at 7,500 rpm, unlike Simon Drew's motor in 2006, then you should be ok. Mind you 7k + sounds like your life is about to expire unless of course you are in a 970 when it is just coming on cam.

Hi, we finished our car for the first Monte within weeks of the event, soplenty of time for you yet. :Dyou can buy a running in oil, either Castrol or Penriteand after 4 hrs with moderate load and no high revs, the job is done.
