    Hi M

Dont want to sound ungrateful for the info you posted but justused ametric to imperial converteri found on theweb .

isthe std size for big ends 1.625 so converting 40.56mm to imperial is 1.597 which makes -0.028 (-30 thou)would this be correct

    Cheers Andy

    40 thou down – it'll need re-nitriding.

Personally I wouldn't use an S crank now – an MG Metro crank/rods are just the job. As long as the bright block is used you'd never know what's in there.

he probably would just goes to that a en40b crank is not bullet proof. that crank also wrote the block off along with a few other parts £££££££££££

surely an en40b crank is the very heart and soul of an S

I'm with 618AOG here why use worn out S stuff when you can use much better condition 1300 stuff. I use a South African EN16T Crank, a cut down 1300 block and A+ rids in my racer, much less expensive if it all goes pop.

I have a reasonable stock of S blocks, cranks & rods too though 😉

    Hi
thanks, the 1275 crank/block etc was in bits and was part of the deal when i brought my 1071 s, as it was already fitted with a 1300gt engine however i am now fitting the orginal 1071 engine back into the car which is in very good order to sell it, and will be selling the parts to get back some of the money i've spent.
the only reason i have not used the engine in the past was the cost if it went bang ££££££
like the last s engine see pic
