A couple of pictures of the car from the Revival Meeting.

However, the car was only seen in the first practice session when it was being driven by Alec Poole. Alec managed to roll the car and it wasn't seen for the rest of the weekend. Alec was OK but shaken.

I was watching the show highlights on Sky TV yesterday and saw the Hornet, but they didn't show the accident.

It was great seeing the Mini Coopers mixing with the big Yank tanks (Rowan Atkinson was driving a Mustang).

It was also great seeing Rauno Aaltonen slaughter Tiff Needell who was driving a classic BMW.

Ironic that only a few years ago Tiff criticized the handling of the Mini (he'd said it handles like a snow plough) and preferred rear wheel drive cars.

    Point proven I think?

Tiff did have mechanical gremlins in the 2002though !

I must confess that though I think the Minis always get more than a fair outing at Goodwood I do get soooo bored of all those Yank tanks which always seem to be over represented .Remember that sillyNY Taxi a few years ago? !

Wonder how many seconds a lap quicker the current crop of Minis are circulating at compared to '65 ? I'd wager it's double figures 😉

You'll get more of a feel of how competative Minis really are Taff by watching the HSCC rounds which a few MCR members will be taking part in next year including Mk1 I think.

Pete, having seen the Sky coverage, the minis looked much happier at Goodwood than they did at the Gold Cup although trying to work out who's classified with who and what mod's are allowed is impossible.

   ”

Hardly. Rauno Aaltonen later raced the BMW 1800's which were faster than the Minis. Tiff's car wasn't running at all well. Normally an 1800TiSa is as fast as the best Lotus Cortinas and Alfa GTa's and thus rather faster than the Minis.
