Hi guys, as some of you know I have got myself a mini. However, it only came with one set of keys.

I have sourced a replacement set of keys and a replacement alarm fob. Trouble is, I can't find where the alarm control box is on the mini, in order to reprogram the fob.

I thought it was under the back seat, but that little box has a label relating to the SRS airbag system

Any advice would be greatly received

Thanks in advance, Chris

Its behind the dash almost directly behind the radio . why do you need to get to the 'box' ? you need to reprogram the fob using a Rover 'testbook' or other compatible equipment .

Hi, thanks for the advice - do I not need access to the box in order to read the radio frequency??

obviously showing my newbie-ness here, so please bear with me 🙂

You simply need someone to plug in the appropriate equipment into the diagnostic socket under the dash, the same one used to connect to the engine ECU.

There is no need at all to get to the box, the Alarm box is paired with the engine ecu, then the fobs are programmed to the alarm.

You can have up to 4 fobs programmed to the car, it takes around 5 min to program them.

Any auto electrician or even a decent garage will be equipped to do it.

I am happy to be corrected...but I think you will find that the main ECU is programmed to the alarm fob.
