Hi all,

As you are probably aware, I have been on the hunt for a mini for a while. you will all be delighted to know that I now have one.

I was having a look under the bonnet earlier and found a wire dangling in the engine bay next to the alternator.

Just wondering if it has a home, or just 'dangles' in its current position...

any advice would be greatly recieved

What colour are the wires to the connector?

What year of car is it? If it is an SPi then there are plenty of wires that lead to nothing and nobody knows what they do.

Hi,

It's a 2000/2001 cooper sport 500
There are two wires leading to the connector - both are black (one has a green stripe running down it - presumably to indicate either live or negative?)
It is taped to another wire leading down to a black rounded object about 3 inches in diameter, which I presume is the horn

Cheers, Chris

looks like the old wiring for the thermostat sensor that used to be fitted on the thermostat housing which control the electric fan speeds.

black is earth
black green relay control for cooling fan
