MCR BGS December Newsletter (No replies)
Happy New Year to everyone and a warm welcome to all our new members. For those who do not know, I took over the BGS region in March 2017 with some 45 members and today we have more than 100!!
2019 is set to be a big ‘Mini’ year with the marks 60th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of the Clubman and of course the International Mini Meet (IMM) in Bristol in August.
My monthly newsletter is designed to keep members informed on local / national events, review the months news / actives, coordinate meet ups and event participation and, present any interesting items for sale.
December has been pretty quite on the car show front, so I have been busy finding and selling parts and, buying minis.
I am 4 weeks in to my new Facebook account and it is better than I expected. The real benefit of Facebook is the sheer number of parts for sale - I found a good quality Mk2 closed boot for £70 delivered, a HRG (Downton) rocker cover for £120 delivered and found a new contact in Market Drayton with enough parts to build 50+ minis – I bought £650 worth of parts and it didn’t even make a dent!!
On the car side, I have recently bought an early and very original 1962 997 Cooper project, a Mk2 S project, a Mk2 998 Cooper project, 2x restored Mk2 Mini Coopers, and I still have the brave 1275GT project. I have also just been offered a very original 1961 Mini Countryman project that I may acquire… If you are looking for your next project – please contact me.
In December I sold a Mk2 Cooper project, a 1071 engine and load of Mk1 brocade, S wheels and other spares – so yes, I have been busy.
Looking forward, the next local-ish autojumble will be in Kiddlington, OX5 1AB on the 13th January, there is a drive-in classic car show at the three counties show ground, Malvern on the 27th January and on the same day, the first major Mini show and autojumble of the year will be at Bingley Hall, Staffordshire. I will be attending Bingley – please let me know if you are also attending.
That’s it from me.
