Is this a factory colour on this Cooper MK3 and is it a fair price? (25 replies)
Its on the high side price wise but it looks very nice so not surprised by the price. I would imagine colour is original, although I did think the beige on a 70's car was slightly different but on looking at the paint cards it looks like Bedouin. A basic mini would have had Autumn leaf interior but the Cooper would have been black so looks about right. You dont see many in that colour.
Thanks for reply
Hi, Looks a nice car from the outlook, but when you dig deeper I am sure you will find a few surprises and not sure about having a 1460cc mini engine even if its build by MED.
The W&P arches are not for everyone and the chrome bullet mirrors.
Nice KAD calipers hiding behind the wheels... mmmm!!
I think you can find a better cooper for the money and the hassle of owning a 1460cc
Mark - Mini Division
The car's been discussed on here before , amongst other issues I seem to remember wrong shell, wrong trim and wrong engine being at the top of the list. Not a great start at that money! There is (or was) a very original one owner Bronze Mk3 S on Ebay for £15K ish which is a much more realistic price and is the real deal. People are snapping up some very overpriced and wrong cars at the moment, blame Channel 4 ! :p
At least you're asking questions before you stump up, some don't bother and get badly stung sadly.

Its a MK3 shell for sure - But doesnt have the hole in the boot which doesnt really mean its not an S shell as I have a MK3 S with no hole in the boot but its certainly something to scoff at - No Radiator cowling, Blocks an A plus if my eyes dont decieve me, There a hell of a lot of repro stuff on it as well , Its very mixed up - interior lamp age doesnt go with steering coloumn shroud age
Wagner lamp units - come on guys thats pathetic on a 20k car
Definatly not a 20k car - to much wrong with it
Lol - You can have mine for 18k - battered but original and you still get to keep 2k for your self

This was the car I was referring to Dave..

Not cheap is it considering the mods, but looks original and from your manner originally!

Which hole in the boot should I be looking at?
Thanks
Thanks for the replies.
Problem is I am not a mechanic. I can make them look nice as can spend hours cleaning cars.
Is there any classic car experts which would give a car the once over, like what the AA provide?
This is the main reason why I have been put off buying a Mini in the past, I just don't know what I'm looking for.
One thing is for certain, I want a Mini.
I did look at those two ebay but they were private. thought I would be better off buying from a dealer.
The dealer that I gave a link to, alslo had a MK1 or 2 for £35k. I would never spend that sort of money. But prices do seem to be rising fast. Just like houses in the south east.
