Cooper '73. Re your thread 12 above and the super advice from Austin Powered and the others above, especially thread 15. I can do no more than suggest that in the politest way, you get your axx hot-foot down to Beaulieu tomorrow, Sunday 8th, take a camera and a note book. And on page 1 of that little note book write down EVERY question that you've ever asked, wanted to ask or SHOULD have asked about Mk3 (or whatever mark type) Mini Cooper S's. While you are there, speak to EVERY Mk3? Cooper S owner yopu see all about their cars including all of those questions and then scribble their answers down.

It's called 'the wisdom of the crowd' phenomena. Some might be slightly incorrect but as a whole, overall, they'll be pretty well 100000% correct. And get this......... It gets better....... If they know/realise that you really are looking for one they'll bend over backwards to help you and answer the Q's and point out the bits of originality that you should be looking out for and....... and...... they won't mind in the least. At least that's been my experience.

It happened to a pal of mine here in Abingdon who went to Beaulieu last year with exactly the same idea. In fact I'm telling YOU just what HE did! After an hour of wising-up on Mk2 Coopers in the arena and park, someone he asked said that he knew where one was just ripe for restoration in a lock-up garage in Swindon (look....., I know...., but someones got to live in Swindon!). Crap colour and some dopey flares otherwise pretty straight - but the real McCoy......... And he's bringing it to Beaulieu this year. The car YOU want is out there but you jus' gotta' put yourself about a bit and the blokes in the MCR are more than ready to help

And sorry to anyone living in Swindon!!!!!!

I would have loved to have made it to Beaulieu. 🙁

Your right Peter to ask the owners as they are the ones with the know how. I keep reading up on websites to try and gain some knowledge. I will have to try and get to a couple of shows.

Another question, not just on the MK3. I now know that Cooper shells come with the brackets on the rear seat and hinge panel for boot floor. What I have noticed is that on a couple I have seen up for sale that there is only 2 brackets on the hinge panel and not 3! Is this sometimes correct as I have noticed this on two or three cars I have looked at?

Prices? I know this is difficult, some are £2k and some £50k. What prices should I be expected to pay for a genuine cooper?

Thanks all once again.
