Hello All Im trying to identify the correct colour red for my built December 1970, registered 71 mk3 cooper s. The car was restored in 2004 not by my self ! With a complete body a paint job to the original shell I am correcting a few bits in including a full repaint of the whole bodyshell. Not knowing if the shell has been painted the correct shade of red?? In 2004 I'm in the body and paint game as a job and do not want to paint the shell the wrong shade of red !!! , now I know that the 2 shades of red that the mk 3 s were painted in from new we're either flame red or blaze red or if any others that people know of greatly appreciated please do let me know ! What I'm trying to confirm for originality is the correct colour, I have been onto British motor heritage to try and confirm this but they have no records : ( Is there anyone that can help ????? From possible records of the club etc or other record sources ? this would be very much appreciated for any help out there Many thanks Nick

Blaze is very different from flame, blaze is orange, I would say your best bet is to try to find a part of the car that wasn't painted last time (assuming it wasn't dipped / blasted back to metal all over) perhaps under the rear parcel shelf trim or other places that would have been masked and not stripped

As said before blaze is orange same as mine in the pics if you want to look so if it's red it will be flame as far is I'm aware
