Mk3 speedo gear change points? (1 reply)
Does anyone else on the forum still use the I II and III markings on the speedo for changing gear, in the absence of a rev-counter? Reason for asking is that my engine gets pretty noisy at change point II (going from second into third) if I take it up to the marked line at about 54mph. Third to fourth does not seem to be anywhere near as frantic.
Are there different markings for I, II, III for the 3-synchro and the later 4-synchro boxes? Parnells book seems to suggest these are all the same, but the internal box ratios are a fair bit different.
Perhaps I should be treating it a bit more gently...
