Mk2 Cooper s fuel pump mounting (3 replies)
Hi, I'm just finishing off restoring a 1969 MK2 Cooper S. I can't find any pictures on how the fuel pump is meant to be mounted. Can anyone help with a picture?
Many thanks, Rob
Hi, attached is a drawing from BMC regarding the fuel breather but it gives you an idea on how the fuel pump is fitted. Good luck! R
I'm also restoring a 1969 MK2 Cooper S, there's a coincidence. I took a huge number of pictures during the time I spent taking it all apart before the body shell restoration, so if there's anything you're not sure how it goes back together, I may have a picture.
That said, the only picture I've got of the fuel pump before it was removed is the one I've attached. It might be of help.
The pump had long since lost its breather pipe but I seem to remember it being there originally. It was a short piece of nylon pipe that went from the pump breather to a little plastic plug type thing that was pushed into a hole in the subframe. So it vented into the subframe cavity, not the body shell. I remember that the plug broke and I couldn't or didn't bother getting a replacement back then all those years ago (1985, I've had the car a long time).
Where the fuel pump wires come through.
