My new 1991 Mini Cooper "Mainstream" (5 replies)
Hi all, In the past few weeks, my new Mini has arrived in Glasgow, from Somerford Mini where it has been for 7 years before I bought it! During that time, I
Well done. I've still got my 1990 Mainstream that I've had since new and taken with me to Switzerland and then New Zealand. I often search Ebay but never see them for sale; only RSP or rusty Spi. I'd love to know how many are still around.
Wow welcome to the fold, that is a very nice example of what is becoming a very rare beast....(but don't say anything as the values will skyrocket and everyone will want one) these cars in standard trim are vanishing fast..most were turned into rsp alikes,or were seen as a poor mans rsp...Ive owned mine since 1993 and been a member of the M.C.R. nearly as long...one word of advice would be that if you mod anything make sure that you keep the standard original parts for future.
I have a Mainstream Cooper which I am selling this year, any idea as to the value, the car was a wreck when I bought it, it's been reshelled using a heritage shell, and has a desirable reg no, the car has had new headlining, new clutch and all of the running gear, new heritage subframes, the interior apart fromn the headlining is original as is the Engine and Gearbox. 1990 with 58k on the clock
Hi mudfordminis, in the absence of any other answers, I can say that is it SO difficult to give a valuation on a car without first seeing it as everyone has such differing views of condition etc. However, I have a Mainstream Cooper in good condition (well, I think so) which hasn't been reshelled with a similar mileage to the one you have mentioned but has had some engine work and a recon gearbox. I have this insured for £4000 which, to be honest, probably wouldn't buy me a similar car in a similar condition. Hope that helps a little.
