Yes I agree - surprised by how low the Metro numbers are - we had a 1970 Austin Maxi from new - a great family car which dad kept for a decade - reg was JJK 101j - funny what you remember ! ':)'

There is some diligent/sad individual depending on your point of view, who has set up a website where you can search for numbers both 'on the road' and on SORN. http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk Listed by manufacturer, so pre '72 Coopers will be listed under Austin, Morris or Leyland.

Think there are a few hundred Mk1-Mk3 listed- bearing in mind doesn't include exports. I was looking for pickups-which only list some 85 on the road and about the same on SORN in UK.

I agree that it is sad. Here's a pic from the other week of my mates 1980 Chevette, one owner, totally original with only 12k miles, parked with my 46K mk2 S
