Hampshire region update

Hello everyone. Welcome to the latest email for the Hampshire region.
Beaulieu was a great success and certainly very popular. The sun was very much in attendance with the result that a number of us attending were quite sun burnt. As the first event for minis with a crowd allowed, I am sure there was a great deal of relief at being able to take a mini to the event and mingle; socially distanced of course. I think we were quite lucky with the weather as the following week there was very little sunshine and plenty of rain. In fact it rained for the next few weeks!
This was my last Beaulieu in overall control. I maybe involved to a degree next year, but not on the same scale. I hope to be able to have a quieter day! My thanks go out to all those people who helped on the day; especially so in the heat. Thankfully each shift is only a couple of hours so plenty of time to look around.
As a region we had our first post lockdown event in late July with a breakfast run out to the Langbrook Farm pub near Havant. It was good to see those who went, although the weather was not on our side this time.
I mentioned on Facebook that there is an event in Lee on the Solent on the 14th August. Known as Summer in Lee the organisers have asked for a line up of minis on the High St. I have reproduced the contents of the latest news letter below:-
“Introducing Summer in Lee, which is a combination of several events that will be brought to Lee on the Solent of the summer months. For 2021 there will be the Summer High Street, Summer Sounds Music Festival and the Summer Fun Fair.

Summer High Street – Held in the High Street on August 14th. With the High Street closed for the day there will Music, Market & Crafts Stalls, Food & Drink Vendors and other entertainment for all the family from 10am through to 6pm.
Summer Sounds Music Festival – Picking up on the great events previously organised by Trevor Ricketts, the re-named music festival will be held at the beach front venue now known as ‘On the Water’ over the 14th and 15th August from 11am through to 11pm. There will be an array of eclectic music being performed inside coupled with busking sessions outside all in aid for two amazing charities; Children with Cancer UK and the Lee Hub Independent Community Library.
Summer Fun Fair is coming to Lee from the 13th through to the 22nd. Something that’s not been seen before on the sea front at Lee so we will be having the John Searle Funfair for all the family to come and enjoy. With opening times being 12noon till 9 on weekdays and till 10pm on the weekend. (Times may vary)
All is designed to bring some fun & entertainment to our coastal village as we come out of the Covid restrictions and give our retail and hospitality a boost to support their businesses.”

If you would like to come and display your mini on the High St, we will probably be in a group, please let me know. Minis need to be on display before 10am please. This is also only for classics on this occasion I’m afraid.

I will provide tea/coffee or soft drinks (as appropriate) plus the ubiquitous biscuits!
