THAMES VALLEY REGION NEWSLETTER

MAY/JUNE 2019

A reminder that our meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month at The Crooked Billet, London Road, Hook, Hants, RG27 9EH from 8pm. All members are very welcome, you don’t have to own a Mini Cooper – any mini will do! It doesn’t matter if you turn up without your mini either….just come along for a drink and a chat with other members. If you have any technical queries about your minis then there is bound to be somebody at the meeting who can help you.

NEXT MEETING – 29th May

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

The Easter Mini Run by the Surrey Hills Mini Group was a great success with nearly 55 cars turning up at the start and….believe it or not…..the same number at the finish!

Our display of Thames Valley Region cars at the Classic Car Rally at the Popham Airfield on the 6th May 2019 was very enjoyable. Despite there being a chilly breeze it remained dry and there was a record number of cars attending, about 1400 apparently. Thanks to all who turned up and either brought or enjoyed (or both) the refreshments on offer.

Our summer run – The Thames Valley Tour 2019 on the 28th July is now full! Fantastic to hear this and thanks to Terry and Clive for the organisation. This event has no competitive element, and is intended as an opportunity for you to drive your pride and joy through the picturesque Thames Valley for a distance of about 85 miles.

For those of you planning to be at Brighton for the annual London to Brighton Run 2019, we look forward to catching up with you. Call in at the Mini Cooper Register stand and say hi! Fingers crossed for the weather, as always.

If you weren’t already aware then this year is the Mini’s 60th anniversary and many clubs and enthusiasts will be marking and celebrating this various ways. The MCR are proposing a display of cars in conjunction with the National Motor Museum’s Beaulieu Spring Autojumble over the weekend of 18th – 19th May 2019. We are looking to put on a display of 60 cars to cover the entire range of Mini production models spanning 1959 – 2000. If you are interested, please email your details with a description of your car to John Parnell: minisixty2019@talktalk.net and include details of your car (with a photo), your name and contact details and which day you would like to attend (Sat, Sun or both days). Camping and caravanning is also available.

The MCR’s National Mini Day at Beaulieu is on the 9th June. There will be a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Mini with a display of 60 Minis. If you are considering entering the Concours then you are advised to book early. There will be the usual line up of Competition and ex-works cars. A large number of specialist Mini traders are expected as well as the unique trunk trading area. The ticket line is now open for advance tickets. Look out for updates in CooperWorld, as always Marshalls are needed for the day, contact Tony on beaulieu@minicooper.org

Mini 60th Anniversary items are now available in our club shop and more goodies are being added on a regular basis….if you can’t find what you’re looking for then please ask. Have a look at the website Mini Cooper Register and click on club shop.
