All members are very welcome, you don’t have to own a Mini Cooper – any mini will do! It doesn’t matter if you turn up without your mini either….just come along for a drink and a chat with other members. If you have any technical queries about your minis then there is bound to be somebody at the meeting who can help you. NEXT MEETING – 24th April HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! Brooklands Mini Day 24th March 2019 was a great success, thanks to Ken and Clive who organised the Thames Valley’s Club stand. The weather was great which meant plenty of Minis! A local club, Surrey Hills Mini Group are holding their 14th Easter Mini Run on Easter Monday. About 60 miles of the area’s countryside finishing off at a local country pub. Open to all classic minis. Please arrive at The Royal Oak, Pirbright by 10.30am. Get there early for bacon rolls, tea and coffee! Entry just £5 (going to a nominated charity) per car, payable on the day. www.shmg.co.uk The club passes have been received for our display of Thames Valley Region cars at the Classic Car Rally at the Popham Airfield on the 6th May 2019. They will be given out at the next meeting or posted to you. http://www.popham-airfield.co.uk/classic-car-rally Regulations and entry form are now available for our summer run – The Thames Valley Tour 2019 on the 28th July. This event has no competitive element, and is intended as an opportunity for you to drive your pride and joy through the picturesque Thames Valley for a distance of about 85 miles. If you weren’t already aware then this year is the Mini’s 60th anniversary and many clubs and enthusiasts will be marking and celebrating this various ways. The MCR are proposing a display of cars in conjunction with the National Motor Museum’s Beaulieu Spring Autojumble over the weekend of 18th – 19th May 2019. We are looking to put on a display of 60 cars to cover the entire range of Mini production models spanning 1959 – 2000. If you are interested, please email your details with a description of your car to John Parnell: minisixty2019@talktalk.net and include details of your car (with a photo), your name and contact details and which day you would like to attend (Sat, Sun or both days). Camping and caravanning is also available. The MCR’s National Mini Day at Beaulieu is on the 9th June. There will be a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Mini with a display of 60 Minis. If you are considering entering the Concours then you are advised to book early. There will be the usual line up of Competition and ex-works cars. A large number of specialist Mini traders are expected as well as the unique trunk trading area. The ticket line is now open for advance tickets. DIARY DATES: 7th April: Bill Rawles Classic Cars Natter & Nibbles 10am-1pm Unit 2, Dukes Mill, Station Approach,Medstead, GU34 5EN First Sunday of every month in the summer between April to September, a coffee morning and consequently classic car show. This relaxed and informal event is open to any make and model, whether you are a customer or not, we don’t mind as we are just car enthusiasts too who enjoy the show. Bacon rolls, tea, coffee and cake is supplied (free for a charity donation). 22nd April: Surrey Hills Mini Group Easter Run. The free meet starts from 2.00pm, where owners can take part in a chilled and relaxed Sunday afternoon classic car gathering. The site has ample free parking on a dedicated event field. The Cafe has full facilities. 6th May: Popham Vintage Fly-in and Classic Car Show – 12 car club display by Thames Valley Region. 10am – 5pm. 19th May: LSMOC London to Brighton Mini run. Run by the London and Surrey Mini Owners Club. LSMOC.The premier mini run open to new, classic and mini derivatives. 18th-19th May: Beaulieu Spring Auto-jumble & Mini 60th celebration display 9th June: MCR National Mini Day at Beaulieu – Thames Valley Region club stand with gazebo 30th June: Barons Hindhead MINI brunch meet. London Rd, Hindhead GU26 6AE 10am-4pm They will be giving away some goodies at the event too for a couple of their competition winners; competitions on the day include Show & Shine, Modern MINI, Classic Mini. 28th July: Thames Valley Tour in conjunction with the TR club. Now in its 8th year and raising funds for charity https://www.collectivelycamberley.co.uk/Car-Show 15th Sept The Rural Life Centre at Tilford, Farnham 10am – 5pm The Classic vehicle Gathering returns to attract all manner of vintage vehicles. From motorbikes to Fords, Jaguars, Austins and Zephyrs, there will be plenty to delight classic vehicle fans.
21st Sept : The Herald Classic Car Show (Alton) The popular annual Alton Herald Classic Car Show returns to Alton town centre on Saturday 21st Sept 10am-4pm. 20th-27th Sept Minis to Ireland That’s all for now.
