THAMES VALLEY REGION NEWSLETTER

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2018

A reminder that our meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month at The Crooked Billet, London Road, Hook, Hants,
RG27 9EH from 8pm. All members are very welcome, you don’t have to own a Mini Cooper – any mini will do! It doesn’t matter if you turn up
without your mini either….just come along for a drink and a chat with other members. If you have any technical queries
about your minis then there is bound to be somebody at the meeting who can help you.

LAST MEETING THIS YEAR – 28th NOVEMBER!

SEE YOU THERE!

Did you visit the biggest and best Classic Car Show at the NEC, Birmingham? If so, did you come and see the Mini Cooper
Register on the usual display stand? Our stand featured a Britax Cooper S, the Avengers’ Mini, the Princess Margaret Mini,
a South African Cooper S and a completely unrestored Mk1 Cooper S. Although the stand wasn’t in a particularly favourable
place this year there was still plenty of interest and lots of new members signed up. I spotted a recently restored 1965
Austin Cooper S with the price tag of £59,996! There was also a 1970 Austin Cooper S for £30,000, needless to say, both of
these cars were being sold by dealers.

Have you booked your room yet for the Hinton Firs weekend in Bournemouth, 25th to 29th January 2019? More details are available in CooperWorld.
The social event of the year really is great fun and this will be the 37th consecutive year! For more information contact Josh Bromage
j-bromage@outlook.com

The itinerary and cost for next year’s Minis to Ireland is now in the latest CooperWorld. This time the southern part of
Ireland will be explored from the 20th to 27th September. For further details see the full advert in CooperWorld. Entries
will open 1st December on a first come first served basis with just 40 places available but you can register your interest
before that time. Contact: membership@minicooper.org

There are several articles in CooperWorld written by Thames Valley region members. Robert Clayson (well known for his
photographical skills and passion) reported on the Goodwood Revival. Richard Pengelly explains the idiosyncrasies of the
Mini cooling system – something we all need to be mindful of.

Our club shop is going from strength to strength with more goodies being available to purchase….maybe you can update
your winter wardrobe or perhaps do some Christmas shopping. Have a look at the website Mini Cooper Register and click on club shop.

If you are after a good deal then visit the MCR Club Shop on BLACK FRIDAY
from 6 am!

When ordering goodies from MINI SPORT don’t forget that members now get a special exclusive discount. You will need to
contact them first with your membership number and contact details in order to set up your discount cara@minisport.com or
01282 778731

That’s all for now. Enjoy your Minis, whether driving them or working on them. Make the most of this time of year for
those winter jobs.
