THAMES VALLEY REGION NEWSLETTER

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2018

A reminder that our meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month at The Crooked Billet, London Road, Hook, Hants, RG27 9EH from 8pm.
All members are very welcome, you don’t have to own a Mini Cooper – any mini will do! It doesn’t matter if you turn up without your mini either….just come along for a drink and a chat with other members. If you have any technical or general queries about your minis then there is bound to be somebody at the meeting who can help you.
SEE YOU THERE!

The month of November sees the biggest and best Classic Car Show at the NEC, Birmingham in the UK on the 9th – 11th! As MCR members, you can book discounted tickets using the code: CSCMS18 for a single ticket or CFCMS18 for a family ticket.
The Mini Cooper Register will have the usual display stand so if you are there don’t forget to stop and say hello. Joining together classic car enthusiasts from all over the UK and beyond, the 2018 classic car show will once again grace the halls of Birmingham’s NEC. https://classicmotorshow.seetickets.com/content/ticket-options

In the latest CooperWorld you can find the latest information on next year’s touring event – Minis to Ireland! This time the southern part of Ireland will be explored from the 20th to 27th September. For further details see the full advert in November’s CooperWorld. Entries will open 1st December on a first come first served basis with just 40 places available. Contact: membership@minicooper.org

The MCR committee sees two new members, a new treasurer – Nigel Oates and a new Youth Co-ordinator – Jack Ward. It’s always good to have new ideas and input on the running of the MCR. Welcome to Nigel and Jack.

This is the time of year when thoughts turn to the MCR’s Social event of the year – The infamous and un-missable Hinton Firs weekend in Bournemouth, 25th to 29th January 2019. I strongly urge you to at least consider attending this event, it really is tremendous fun and this will be the 37th consecutive year! For more information contact Josh Bromage j-bromage@outlook.com

Some of you may have attended the recent installation of an English Heritage Blue Plaque at the former Cooper Car Company factory at Hollyfield Road, Surbiton. The whole factory site was given a Listed Building status by Historic England. At its prime, Cooper was the world’s largest racing car manufacturer and that all emanated from a very modest Surbiton workshop…..so this award was well deserved!

Our club shop is going from strength to strength with more goodies being available to purchase….maybe you can update your winter wardrobe. Have a look at the website www.minicooper.org and click on club shop.

When ordering goodies from MINI SPORT don’t forget that members now get a special exclusive discount. You will need to contact them first with your membership number and contact details in order to set up your discount cara@minisport.com or 01282 778731

That’s all for now. Enjoy your Minis, whether driving them or working on them. Make the most of it…..the evenings are drawing in!
