Mk2 Cooper S Register Produced between September 1967 and January 1970, the MkII Mini Cooper 'S' is arguably the best mix of MkI quirkiness and MkIII practicality. During this two and a half year period, BMC manufactured a total of 6,329 of these fabulous cars, this is how that total production is made up: | | Austin | Morris | Total | | Home Market | 790 | 689 | 1,479 | | Export Market | 1,897 | 2,953 | 4,850 | | Total | 2,687 | 3,642 | 6,329 |
With less than 1,500 cars produced for the home market, the mkII 'S' is a relatively rare beast. Currently there are 368 cars registered, a survival rate of 6% of the total production or 25% of the home market production. The aim of the MkII 'S' register is to: Record and maintain a database of surviving cars Provide help and support to MCR members wanting to purchase a MkII 'S' Help existing owners with technical and specification queries Trace the history of cars for existing or potential owners Promote the use and enjoyment of the MkII 'S' within the MCR
