Mk1 S almost complete
After 5 years of grafting, my rebuild is almost complete, so I thought I would post a couple of pics.
As shown I bought this 1275 S (from Swifty who is a member on here) in 2010. When bought it had been well butchered, hill climbed and sprayed Tartan Red, though it is now in its factory colours.
Many thanks to all those on here who have helped with measurements, bits, advice and so on, and a particular thank you to Nick Rogers on here of Min-e-Bitz who has been a great help in sourcing me a lot of the hard to find original parts.
Looks very nice, just a question your master cylinders are they new old stock or have you found a paint nearer correct colour than normal silver
Hi Daz I was lucky enough to get hold of NOS stock.
Nick Rogers supplied the brake, and I bought a job lot of stuff at an auction not really knowing what was among it, and to my surprise it had an NOS clutch cylinder in it.. though the rest of it was pretty much junk!
I have not yet come across an accurate paint, but I suppose re-plating would be the way to go.
That looks great Kevin , very wise investment . Although I've still got a few Cooper S minis left to restore I've always regretted selling that one . Well done . Ken ( swifty) .
Good to hear from you Ken, and thanks for the comments.
I guess it's always hard to part with these cars good or bad, but thanks anyway and the bits you gave me with it at the beginning which were a great help.
At the time you had another later Mk2 S you were working on. How did that resto go?
Nice colour combo.
I think at the time I was working on a very late mk1 S witch I have now sold to jd classics , and also the green mk2 Cooper with the Manx 7 port engine , witch i won the Beaulieu cup with this year . I've also now sold that to Jd classics as well . I'm now having a play at modifying a sports pack mini ..... All the best . Hope to see the mini at Beaulieu some time .... Ken
