XLY 869G in Nov 1990 Supercar Classics (3 replies)
I'm trying to find the current owner of Mk2 998 Cooper XLY 869G, Snowberry White + black roof.
Back in November 1990 it was road tested by Russell Bulgin for the magazine Supercar Classics. The owner then was Ray Duns. It was reported as virtually 100% original.
I own WRE 401G, which has almost consecutive (next but one) chassis numbers, and only 6 out on engine numbers. Both cars were built on December 30th 1968. It's still being s l o w l y restored, although the body/engine/running gear are all now pretty well completed.
The reason I'm trying to trace this car is because I would really like to see what the original interior & engine bay looks like, as I imagine my Cooper's would have been identical. However my mini's had a typical Cooper history and much of the interior has since gone/replaced etc.
Give Graham Robinson, the mk11 registrar a ring, if it's still around he'll know
Well.....Graham's already emailed me this morning having (probably...) traced the Ray Duns I'm looking for! Should know in the next few days if we're on to the same chap as in the magazine article. Got a facebook page for him, so hopefully he'll reply confirming he was the owner.
Watch this space!
Ooops! Looks like I got Graham E Robinson & Graham w Robinson mixed up!
Apologies to both parties.
