Topic sequence (9 replies)
A number of members have requested that the most recent post within a topic should be shown first avoiding the need to go to the last page to see the most recent post.
I have changed the settings to achieve this.
I do not think that that is a good idea as no other forum does this. To find the last post click on the last page, it is not difficult. Why not have the feature were you can go to the first unread post, it's how most other forums work. The forum should be as easy to use as any other, not confusing.
My patients are now being tested to the point of no return, including my annual subscription to the club.
I am open to the wishes of the members, several have requested this way of sequencing the posts but if the consensus is that it should be the other way then I am happy to change it back.
Normally the posts are other way round, but you can see the pages on front index page so easy to enter last page, the last posts on main index are not showing correct either and iPad viewing is still bad with text overlaid over other text.
Also still keep getting logged out
This is just stupid, when reading from top to bottom you are reading the answer before the question. It just does not make sense.
I think what people would prefer is the posts reading chronologically down the page, but instead of taking you to page one of the thread, they'd prefer to go straight to the final page when opening the topic, if that makes sense?
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Sarah, you may be right, it's not easy to explain is it. 🙁
Thank you for your responses, both through the forum and via email, I have now changed the display of posts so that they are in chronological order but the last page, with the most recent post, appears first when you visit a topic
Perfect! This reads much better 🙂 Thanks Mike 🙂
Good to see that the posts are now in the order they were posted.
If people still have a problem with knowing which posts are new, you might have noticed that some are in a pale (Almost Fiesta) yellow back ground. These are posts that have been posted since you last logged on (or did not read before). The other way to find the latest post is to click on Recent Posts at the top right of the forum page. Again any posts that have been posted since your last log in will appear with the yellow back ground. The latest post is at the top of the page, which I do not have a problem with, because if you click read you get taking to the thread and can read it in chronological order.
The highlighting of new posts is one of the better features of the new forum because it is very easy to see what is new.
