Windscreen filler strip
The chrome finish filler strip round my windscreen has gone dull. I'm thinking of replacing it but just wondering how likely that would be to disturb the watertight properties of the seal?
I have replaced a few without any leaking issues and in particular my daily drive that is permanently out side but it depends on whether or not sealer was used and how stiff it is.
Modern plastic chrome strips are terrible for degrading in the light and after a couple of years tops they are mustard yellow if your car lives outside. I'm glad the wheel arch trim lasts quite well.
If you fit a new one leave it to shrink back overnight before cutting to length if you can.
