RoStyle 10 inch wheels refurb
[quote="Mk 3 S Meister":2fi8ps3m]I didn't cloud the issue, Peter didn't ask about 1275GT's, he asked about 10" Rostyle [quote:2fi8ps3m]wheels needing a refurb to original silver/black[/quote:2fi8ps3m][/quote:2fi8ps3m] and the Authi Cooper wheels were Rostyles (not Firsats), and they were originally silver/black.
If you saw Peter's previous post on or around the same time he asked about 1275GT production changes so it was obvious that that was the subject of interest, coupled with the fact that he has few posts he must be a newish member seeking information on the relevance of his car!
The colour of Rostyles is a bit of a contentious issue. Many people on a host of forums ask the question on colour and paint code and todate I have not seen one answer. My own view based the experience of looking at other records in and around that time is that it was never recorded. I suspect that with the emergence of British Leyland/Austin Rover that these types of finer detail on production were not considered essential and probably reflect the merging of product, plant and rationalisation. Heritage Certificates are a good example of this, I have a 65 and 73 certificates and the latter does not record any colour for car, interior or carpets!
Your best bet is to try and get a colour match from an existing wheel but be careful because once lacquered they will turn a shade darker!
Thanks for all the information guys . I am restoring a May 1970 registered 1275 GT car back to original as best as I can, so would the rostyles be gunmetal grey or silver ?
I have found some extra 10" rostyles in my loft so now have 5 to sell for refurb. I will post a sale advert in due course.
Any other info on original parts would be helpful ,Speedwell pedal ? etc.I need a set of original early gauges as they have been updated to a later set.
